Boris ripely dramatic

Since I just got through commenting on THE RAVEN message board, I thought I'd swing on over to this other Boris and Bela thing which I consider the final installment of their mid-thirties trilogy (with THE BLACK CAT and THE RAVEN) This one finally gave Karloff the chance to rage and fume much the way Lugosi did in THE RAVEN. He's swarthy and curly haired, he's been wronged (to his mind, anyway), he glows in the dark and he's slowly going mad. And oh yes, he can kill at a touch: helluva combination. And yet we feel sympathy for the guy as only Karloff could make us feel. This is an absolutely superior B movie and really one of the earliest pure Sci-fi horror films. Thought the glow in the dark look was neaty-cool when I first saw this as a kid (they did the same thing with Lon Chaney Jr in MAN-MADE MONSTER).

You are so right, it is a great B picture and personally, my favorite of the Karloff/Lugosi series

"It's the stuff that dreams are made of."

When I saw this tonight, the "glowing in the dark" stuff made me think of "Man Made Monster" which I've seen before. This was a fun flick, with an amusing story, and both Boris and Bela are in fine form.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

I recall that film as well however at the time there was also the Adventures of Superman ep "Superman in Exile" which was on TV first where the big guy had pretty much the same thing.
After TIR was on all of us that next Monday in school were saying how Karloff
looked like Superman did. I'm sure the same FX was used on both.
