Bra

When were bras made? Look at the boobs on Frances Drake !! Going up and down as she walks.

I noticed that, too. I think the silk dress was accentuating them as well...but well done to both of them ! A fine performance !

Being the ripe old age of 50, I can explain the 'unbridled' state of the incredibly-gorgeous, stupendously-sultry, (dare I say it-) "bedroom-eyed' goddess Frances Drake's mammary glands: Most women did not wear brassieres in 'the olden days'. Watch closely in the old films, and you'll notice. My dear paternal grandmother, bless her bones, was one example, as were many of the 'older generation' in my youth.
I must admit, I am mesmerized every time I watch this film ... !

Check out Gloria Stuart (the old lady of TITANIC) in THE OLD DARK HOUSE (1932). At one point, she's wearing this very sheer garment that I thought was a negligee, but she wears it to the dinner table! Karloff, the mute butler, can't keep his one good eye from looking at her from tip to toe...

Nipple tip that is.

Let it be unsaid: insignificance is the locus of true increpation.

Pre Hayes Code lots women flashed the goods. It wasn't till the 70's that TV shows would start showing such teasing. And Europe...they weren't shy in early film.

Here's a shot of her from that era:
