I can't bear Zarkov's short ... but imagine things we could now

...with the priest a la Egyptian. That particular character seemed to inspired an old alien woman in Star Trek. It makes me wonder the sort of special FXs we could use now in helmets and armours like Stargate which are built in a second flat, being wrapped around the users. In Flash Gordon we saw a sort of neo-Roman thing and the square robotic soldiers with buckets on their heads were funny. The palace was inspired in Chinese decoration just like Ming is a name based upon Ming dynasty and Mongo in the mongolians.

I think the sharkmen could be a bit like the ones in Pirates of the Caribbean while lion-man something like the creatures from Island of Dr. Moureau with the technology used in Chronicles of Narnia mixing make-up, costumes and animatronics with a bit of CGI.

I wouldn't want the Robin Hood outfits or a FAT prince Barin with a moustache looking even smaller in a chubby face!

The film would have to be like original Star Wars with a menacing Ming/Darth Vader. In that sense Max Von Sidow was unforgettable in the 80's version just like Langella was superb as Skeletor in He Man and the Masters of the Universe.

The problem is who the heck could be Flash Gordon? Perhaps an unknown strong actor. Buster was athletic indeed and wasn't walking calmly in the set like Sam Jones in the 80's campy version.

You can imagine the dragon with unicorn and the crab monster with technology available today and would be as good as Scorpion King in The Mummy 2.

There's a thin gap between skepticism and cynicism
