Just Beautiful

I know there are some continuity errors but aside from that I think this is a wonderful followup to Dracula. Gloria Holden is simply beautiful I think in this and the atmosphere is wonderful.
If only, if only it and the rest had been in color. Those gowns in those days must have been amazing to have seen in real life. Yes I realize color did not come till much later but one can always dream. :)

Color had been around in time for use in this film, but the b&w is so perfect for it. Yes, it's tempting to see the clothing in color in many of these old films.

Remember: "Becky Sharp" (1935) is the first three-color feature length film. And, color was used even before that, including "Phantom of the Opera" (1925):
Several sequences were shot in various color processes for the top general release prints. From IMDb: Technicolor was used for scenes from FAUST and the Bal Masque scene, Prizmacolor sequences were shot for the "Soldier's Night" introduction, and Handschiegel (a process that uses stamps to hand-color prints) for the Phantom's notes and red cape on the rooftop. Only the Technicolor Bal Masque sequence is known to survive (an IB print from the 1929 re-release).

Agree. This movie is perfect.

I find B/W the best format for classic Universal horror films. Acting, photography, actors and actresses, direction are flawless. And, I even agree with the person above who prefers this to original Dracula.

Universal was at the top of its game with this release.

Stupid!?! I never called you stupid! To call you stupid would be an insult to stupid people!

This is a pretty good sequel. I know many people wouldn't watch a black and white movie if you paid them to, but I say they're missing out. Universal monster movies are so perfect in black and white. It contributes to the Gothic atmosphere so much and makes it so great. But yes, this is a very good followup to Dracula.
