What's your favorite Three Stooges short?

This is my favorite, but I was wondering what other Stooges' fans favorites were and don't forget to list what era it was in (Curly, Shemp, Joe, or Curly-Joe.)

In the Curly era, I'd say "Punch Drunks" (the one where Curly is a boxer who goes nuts when 'Pop Goes The Weasel' plays), "Dizzy Doctors" (they play salesmen running amok inside a hospital selling "Brighto"!), and "A-Plumbing We Will Go" (the classic short where they wreck a socialite's home fixing the plumbing).

In the Shemp era, I would nominate "Hold That Lion" (they look for a crook aboard a train), and "Blunder Boys" (an amusing take-off on 'Dragnet' in which they play inept detectives).

As for the Joe Besser era -- ugh! No favorites there. The features with Curly-Joe Derita have some isolated humorous moments, but overall they're lame. The golden age of the Three Stooges died with Shemp in 1955.

Well, my very favorite in the Curly era was definitely "Disorder in the Court." Especially the Swearing in routine where Curly frustrates the Judge and the Court Clerk.

And my very favorites with Shemp were the ones with Svengarlic the hypnotist. My favorite scene was the one where Shemp tries to hypnotize Moe and Moe pretends to go along with him and keeps repeating "I am now in Sing Sing."

Wow so many great ones, I just bought a dvd that has Disorder In The Court plus three other ones (all 4 in color!), Sing A Song Of Six Pants, Brideless Groom, and Malice In The Palace.

Sing A Song Of Six Pants is probably one of my favorites along with Disorder in the Court, but I really love the one where Moe, Larry, and Shemp go to fix a woman's doorbell, then they end up being cooks and waiters, what's the name of that one?

I have a whole bunch on tape from a marathon that I'll have to watch again, I'll have to keep track of the ones I have.

There's one I USED TO have on tape which I taped over called "What's the Matador?" There's a very funny and weird scene with Curly just before they go there. He and Moe/Larry start marching around and keep saying "Mexico here we come, yeah!" But when Moe and Larry go offscreen, Curly is right in the center and keeps coming towards the lens of the camera. When he gets close enough he starts saying stuff like "aah" "guh" "ooh" LOL it's so funny, I wish I had that one. Anyone see that one?

andycool,

The film where Moe Larry and Shemp are fix-it men who are drafted into domestic service is "Listen, Judge", made in 1952.

I haven't watched these over again in years, but as a kid, I hated - HATED - Shemp. I thought the Larry-Curly-Moe shorts were the best. Joe? Fuggedaboutit.

I like that scene:

Lawyer: Drop the vernacular.
Curly: Vionacular? This is a doiby!

In "Disorder in the Court" my favorite scene is where the guys are providing music for the nightclub dancer. Larry's violin bow gets caught in one of the lawyers toupe and when he sees it he shakes it off and screams "It's a Tarantula!!!"

BTW, I'm a 54 y.o. woman who grew up with the Stooges starting in grade school in the 60's and have raised my daughters on them. We all think they are the best.

I have so many favorites! One I'd like to mention is "Tassels in the Air", with "Omay" the decorator. Hilarious! Can you imagine the Three Stooges decorating your house?

As others have said...there are so many that are classics! But my personal favorite has always been "A-Plumbing We Will Go". Just constant belly-laughs....not the least of which is during most of the show, Lary is just tunneling around thru the dirt & up into the people's yard (you have to see it to know what I'm talking about!) for no real reason! The entire episode for me is basically one constant laugh!

Even the remake with Shemp was funny!

The Curly Years: In the Sweet Pie and Pie, Disorder in the Court, Hoi Polloi, Slippery Silks

The Shemp Years: Who Done It?, Brideless Groom, Scrambled Brains, Tricky Dicks

I like the Stooges' earlier shorts best (from the 1930s), particularly Ants in the Pantry, Hoi Polloi, and An Ache in Every Stake.

Hands down this one "Disorder in the Court" is my all time favorite Stooges short. I think it has to be one of most slapstickiest Stooges feature. The swearing in scene with Curly is truly classic. 'Take off your hat... put your left hand on the bible - now raise your right hand. I said take off your hat! It never fails to make me laugh out loud... lots of other funny scenes too like when Larry kills the toupee and makes like Tarzan. Funny funny stuff - no one today can even come close to the Stooges if its good and really funny its timeless and will attract fans for generations. Crap they put out today is if best good for one laugh.

All of the programs mentioned here rank high on my favorites list in additon to Three Little Beers where they set golf back 200 years. To really get the gist of that one, you have to see the whole thing and not the cut up version. You can probably get it on IFC instead of it being butchered on the other networks. These show that Columbia did know how good they were and what they could hav done with them if they had turned them loose like the Marx Brothers were. Columbia never appreciated them and worked them like dogs to the point where it killed Curley. Columbia opted to crank out shorts instead of giving them the chance to do movies. Very short sighted of Mr. Cohn. Rest in peace guys.
