Shirley Was An Artist

As both the great Broadway star Buddy Ebsen and Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson insisted, Shirley was a SERIOUS dancer. She sang and acted of course but the dancing was her #1 love. She thought of herself first and foremost as a dancer. She lights up with joy when she dances - an artist's joy in doing what they love and knowing they are good. Watch her face during 'Codfish Ball' or in any of her best film numbers. What she did with those chubby little legs...is amazing.
