The Ending

I am a big fan of Laurel and Hardy and I've enjoyed this film for many years. Yet, I've always been disturbed with the ending of this movie. Having Oliver Hardy stretched on the rack and Stan Laurel "crunched" in the press was just way too disturbing. There's one or two other L&H films that end in some form of physical distortion that are equally disturbing. I know that some people will just call it physical comedy or slapstick but it just dosn't sit well with me.

never bothered me.

Those types of scenes bother me too, but I tolerate them because I do love Laurel & Hardy movies.

There's another L&H film titled "Below Zero". At the end of the movie they enjoy a meal at a restaurant and then discover they can't pay the bill. They are roughed up and thrown in the back alley. The owner/waiter throws Stan in a huge barrel of water. Ollie finds Stan in the barrel and asks what happened to the water. Stan replies that he drank it and after being helped out of the barrel, we find that Stan's belly has inflated like a HUGE water balloon. Again I find this very disturbing.
