'voice' in the hallway...

when Eve throws Barr out, he pretends to speak with a girl in the hallway... that voice sure sounds like Jean Arthur, but I don't see her listed in the credits.. by the way, this film is now available on the "Cary Grant - Screen Legend Collection". If you like this one, see also Housekeeper's Daughter" 1939 & the best one of them all is "His Girl Friday" 1940.

I was just thinking the EXACT same thing when I was watching this movie less than an hour ago. When Cary Grant 'throws' his voice in the hallway, it's clearly NOT him doing the female voice, but instead a woman looped in post-production, seemingly attempting an impersonation of Mae West. (Joan Bennett later quotes Mae, an 'inside' joke of sorts, referring to Grant's several co-starring roles with West, it would seem.)

But you're absolutely right - it definitely sounded a helluva lot like Jean Arthur to my ears too, and I came here to see if it was her, uncredited. How could one confirm this, though..?
