Advice?

Our school is doing this play next fall (yeah, sorry, you've heard that a lot...) and I need advice. I'm a lower baritone, and I'm not sure who to try out for. I'd like to try out as Billy Crocker, but I'm not sure what kind of vocal range he has. If someone could give me fairly accurate ranges, I'd appreciate it a lot! Thanks!

I'd say he is a tenor or higher bass. His songs that he sings are definatly more on the high side. However, I am currently in a production of it and our Billy is singing bass in choral songs.

I'm playing Moony, it's a really fun role. I'd recommend trying for it in case you don't get Billy.

Sticks and stones can break my bones but I'm Jesus and you aren't!

yea, Billy is a high range, and not as fun of a character as Moonface (who I played). Very fun show.

Also, you could try for Lord Evelyn Oakleigh... his range is baritone

Thanks! Haha, I know it's a little late, but I ended up with Billy (we had to change some of the songs, I couldn't hit all of the high notes in Easy to Love or All Through the Night). It went really well- I think it was the biggest turnout I've ever seen for one of our high school musicals! I was honestly kinda jealous of both Moon and Evelyn... they were awesome parts, both, haha. It was my first time as a lead, and I had a blast! It was a great show.

We had a bass Billy at our school, too, and some songs were transposed to his voice. I LOVED being in the show!
