Who was the actor?

This actor in the movie Anthony Adverse made his appearance when they were all in Africa. He was tall, VERY DEEP VOICE, had a mustache and was slender. As a matter of fact, he was in the room when the priest wanted to go in and see a very sick Anthony Adverse and the native girl kept saying "I'm the mistress now".

I'm going crazy. What was the name of the actor in the background (not the priest), the tall guy with the mustache?

The IMDB credits list his name as Paul Sotoff, playing Ferdinando. He has quite a John Carradine thing going in this movie, one of only three listed here.

Yes, at first I thought it was Carradine, until I got a good look at his face and realized it wasn't.
