This movie is a time capsule!

As someone noted in their review, this movie is a time capsule from 1936, both in terms of elements of the film, and in observing the props and objects that the characters moved about.

Remember that "advanced" stove? It looked like an old cabinet! How about the cars? The phones?

And, in terms of filmmaking, look how heavy handed the music was. It almost seemed like audiences were much more innocent then...they accepted a straight-forward story and the music without cynicism.

Also a time capsule in terms of Cary Grant's career. You see flashes of the Cary Grant we all know, yet he's still learning his craft!

This movie can be called a time capsule yes, but many other films also can be viewed as a window to the past. I am just glad one other person besides myself actually has something to say about this movie. It is probably my favorite love story of all time- though it is old, the music is a little silly, and the film quality is not great- the story is about as romantic as it gets.

I found the 1936 views of London interesting as well... Though, I could not really tell what was studio and what was really London... Still interesting for that historical view of London...
