Mongolia, Key to Int'l Passenger Air Travel?

I've been enjoying the serial on TCM, particularly the 2 "Jrs," a fuzzy-cheeked Noah Berry and Lon Chaney. Jean Rogers around for eye-candy is also a plus.

The setting, Mongolia, isn't exactly the gateway to Asia let alone an important final destination. I guess Pan Am had the more lucrative air routes already covered!
