Watching it on TCM

I am watching the Ace Drummond Serial on TCM on Satuday mornings from 10-11AM.

It is a typical serial with unbelievable stunts and escapes.

Noah Beery, Jr. is a real treat to watch in an early role. I will always remember him as Buster in Red River and as Rocky in the Rockford Files.

Jean Rogers is quite attractive but seems to have little to do in this serial so far.

At the beginning of each chapter, they say that Eddie Rickenbacker is the creator of the Ace Drummond character.

All in all, it is an enjoyable way to spend a Saturday morning and I am anxiously waiting to find out who The Dragon really is.

John "Dusty" King was a singer with a big band who got a few small roles in musicals until he landed the lead in Ace Drummond. He later signed with Monogram and did "The Range Busters" movie series until the mid 1940s. John then left Hollywood and opened a waffle restaurant in La Jolla, California, where he remained until his death over 40 years later.
