Dumbest plot ever... at least the dresses were pretty

How does she think he's married to Madge if he never even wears a wedding ring?! Even in the scene before Cheek to Cheek where Jerry and Madge briefly hold hands he isn't wearing one (obviously), so she can't reason it as him trying to hide the marriage.

Also, when you reject a 'married man' you're gonna explain it's because they're already married. Are we seriously supposed to believe that Dale would never state that, during the
numerous times she rejects his advances? Or why doesn't Jerry ever introduce himself?!

What did Jerry even see in Dale? She comes to his room to complain and he's immediately smitten? Even flying to Italy just to see her when she doesn't like him? The lack of chemistry (when they're not dancing) doesn't help. What does Dale even do for a living, why is she in the hotel?

What kind of female name is Dale anyway?!?! Ugh so many questions.

...I can see why the film wasn't nominated for Best Screenplay.
