How about a remake?

I think it is time. It is a moving story and there is enough drama, action and unrequited love to make a very entertaining movie. Come on Hollywood or better yet BBC!

I totally agree. You would have thought that they would have made one by now.

There is a movie that is called the same that is made in 1980. Do you mean that they shouls do another newer remake?

reply

... Yeah I'd like another remake. That one really wasn't special... it wasn't nearly as good as the original, in my opinion. I really liked this cast, I just wish they would've had modern resources when they were putting it together...

Miss Pross vs. Madame Defarge could've been far more climactic. :P

You should rent the 1989 TV mini-series version produced by the BBC for Masterpiece Theatre. It was a very excellent production.

I just finished the book, and I have never cried that much from a book! I would love a big budget movie remake! How about Orlando Bloom and Rupert Friend playing Sydney and Charles? They look a lot alike.

Here is Rupert http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1670029/

You're spot on about O.B. and R.F. they could use each other's ID. I also think they have the skills to make it work.

There was a reasonable remake of ATOTCs made in 1958 starring Dirk Bogarde,Dorothy Tutin,Cecil Parker and Alfie Bass. This version is on British TV from time to time. The great authority on the Cinema Halliwell doesn't rate it in comparison to the 1935 version so perhaps a remake is due.
Just as the film of the book never seems as good as the book-some of the content is omitted-so remakes of old films are rarely as good as the original version. I could be proved wrong of course if somebody undertakes it.

As sad as it is to promote myself, I've already adapted the book into a script that I want so badly to make into a film one day. I think the script is quite good, personally, but who knows if anyone else agrees.

Hopefully I'll get my name on it if there ever is a remake!

I vote Christian Bale for the part of Sydney

Agreed. And the attack on the Bastil will be a much larger scene in the new version since now we have more budget at disposal.
