How is Cary Grant not "convincing" as a Cockney...he IS a cockney by birth, born in Bristol.

Michael Caine could only have done it better.

No offence mate, but you really should do some reading up before you post comments like that.

Cary Grant was not a cockney. Cockney's and their accents can be found in certain areas of south & East London. I'm from London and have lived here all my life. Being from central London I am not a cockney myself, nor do I have the accent but I recognise it when I hear it just like all other Londoners, cockney or otherwise!

I can assure you a billion and one percent that Cary Grant was not a cockney!

p.s In my estimation Cary Grant's accent comes from a mixture of time spent in England and in America and therefore an assimilation of more than one accent.

also to the reviewer michael donovan; Grant did not have a cockney accent in his movies!

For anyone who wants to hear real cockney accents without travelling to london rent the films;
"Lock, stock and two smoking barrels"
and "Snatch"

I live where Cary Grant grew up and the accent here is very broad. I think Cary worked hard to lose his accent and a London one would have been more generic and passable. I think his accent is pretty undefinable as he is trying to cover and reinvent his own.

You must be here to fix the cable
