I kept waiting for Hepburn to get with Cary Grant...

I thought it was a romance between those two! I guess just because in their other three movies they are romantic interests.

Did anyone else think that too?

I did (& I was kind of sad when they didn't...).

Not at all. In all of their other films, yes. But not in this one. Fundamentally they were absolutely not right for each other. You're both nuts.

His character is a bad seed. Can't have heroine Hepburn with him.

At first, I thought (and hoped) they were going to end up together because I've seen and loved their three other movies together, and they are, in my opinion, the greatest screen pairing of all time. But after getting into the movie, I realized what a rat Cary's character was, and how awful he would be for Katharine, or anyone. So I was glad they didn't end up together, which is saying something, considering how much I love Cary/Katharine!

While I think Brian Aherne is a total cutie pie (especially in this movie) I'd still choose a ratty Cary Grant over him!
