Upside down and backwards - Spoiler Alert

What's interesting about this movie is how some of the people we'd ordinarily expect to be conniving and evil were actually not and the ones who should have been supportive and kind were not. Take Edith, for example, the rich woman who wanted to marry Brighton and who the family wanted him to marry for her money. When he turned her down, she could have been bitter, resentful, and vindictive towards both him and Phyllis but instead she was rather gracious and even tried to help.

On the other hand, there's Brighton's mother. One would think she'd want her son to be happy and would be supportive of him but she's trying to push his wife to cheat on him for the purpose of helping them out of their situation. She doesn't even mind a scandal or the heartbreak it would cause her son; just as long as she's able to maintain appearances. She cares more about hobnobbing with a bunch of vile and tedious gossips than she does about her own family.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]
