where is originality in movie?

i don't know how you people see the films, but i have seen this 1935 version just last night, and i came to know that there is huge difference in the original novel and this film.you know what, skipping scenes and details due to the technical problems according to the technology available is something else but changing the plot is something absurd.this is where the director himself puts his own efforts into a black hole.this is why this movie never gained this much fame.if you read the novel and go in its depth, you will see that the writer rider haggard has put huge imagination in his book but the director of this film has excluded them and has put this movie to dungeons.for me overall if i talk, this is an average movie.

People have said the same thing about movies made from books at least since The Birth of a Nation.

Your mistake is comparing two different mediums. What takes several sessions to read cannot be compared to something viewed in 101 minutes.

Aficionados of a book are rarely, if ever, completely satisfied with the film version.

So was Apocalypse Now a waste since Coppola changed the setting from The Congo to the Vietnam war? Silly argument, if it works, it works!
