Question about the conversation about the trip to Kansas City

Whenever Fred and Ginger are joking about their childhood, and Fred says "I just showed them a picture of Lillian Russell". Who is that? Is it an old movie star? or is it referring to somebody from their home town?

I assume (presume?) that they are referring to the American Actress and singer who was known for her beauty and style (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lillian_Russell)
