Don't suppose anybody has any idea what material the gown may have been made of? i can't remember if Ginger described it in her autobiography and i can't find my copy :(

I found one picture of the gown, it looks like it was bias cut satin, probably silk satin....claire

Wow, don't to post a picture of yourself in the finished dress. Which is ofcourse fully lined w/silk and has dress weight sewned into the hem. Ahem. I sew a little. I finally found a video of the dance. That is some dress. You could also go with a built in foundation in the bodice. tricky but effective....

i'll be the first to admit i didn't make it and its not an absolute copy, i didnt like the back so it was combined with another dress ginger wore. but thought of with considerable love :-)

Yeah, sometimes that is best of all.......c

I'm watching that scene now. The fit, drape and movement of that dress is perfect. I always thought she had a beautiful back, and the dress accents her figure so well.
