I heard that color scenes were shot but were cut before filming.

hallo iamthemook i didnt realise this about the technicolour. do u know if the scenes shot in colour were replaced with black and white or cut out completely?

cheers

reply

Bingo! I think thereĀ“s a mix of these two films. Of course, a fashion show calls for color!

reply

I believe you may confusing ROBERTA with another film as I've never heard of a Techinicolor segment in the movie. Perhaps you misread something about the DVD release which contains as bonus features a early 1935 Technicolor musical short.

reply

or perhaps the OP is thinking of The Women, which has a color fashion show sequence.

reply

Could you be thinking of Carefree? The dream sequence in that film was supposed to have been shot in technicolor, but RKO decided not to because they didn't want to carry the expense.

reply

in the 'Films of Ginger Rogers' by Homer Dickens there are claims that the fashion sequence was shot in colour, however i found a lot of information in this book to be embarrassingly inaccurate and i'd never read it anywhere else and i have enough books on fred and ginger!

According to 'Ginger, A Salute to a Star' by Dick Richards the Fashion Show was shot in colour, as this is now the second account i have read (two people in different countries) has anyone got any more information they could shed on this? (incidently i bought this post my last comment)
