NRA emblem

Why was the NRA (National Recovery Act) emblem prominently displayed in the lower left corner of the title card? Were some NRA funds used to help finance this movie? (And if so, why?)

reply

Probably the NRA just like the one the Republicans kiss every night..

The Wikipedia page about the National Recovery Act explains that it was set up in FDR's new deal to create fair practices among competitors. It also monitored labor practices in businesses including the movie industry. The movie industry supported the National Recovery Act. So probably like a union symbol is on other things the NRA symbol is on the intro or credits in a movue.

Hmmm. So using that symbol could mean, "We who run this movie studio agree with the goals and methods of the National Recovery Administration." Or it could mean, "We don't want consumers to boycott our studio's movies in the belief that we don't support the NRA." Guess I'll have to do some more reading...
