DVD!!!

they need to release the raven and the black cat on dvd! i have no idea what they are waiting for! just release it already!

reply

It has been released. I have a triple-feature DVD (from Australia) with The Raven, The Black Cat and The Mummy. I also saw a whole bunch of new DVDs of classic films, including The Mummy, at a local department store. Don't know if Black Cat & The Raven are amongst them. But check your local stores and/or internet retailers!

reply

Uh, I think he means a DVD in USA.

reply

I know. But if it's available in Australia and/or here (Germany), it HAS to be available in the USA! I'd be VERY surprised if it isn't.

reply

Well it's not available here in the States, unfortunately. Maybe in the near future?

reply

I haven't heard anything about The Raven, The Black Cat or The Invisible Ray. Has anyone else??????? I've been waiting for FIVE YEARS!!

E-Mail Universal once a week asking them if they are going to release it. In time, they will release it. It looks like they are paying more attention to releasing the horror films of the 30s, so maybe. Hopefully. These movies ROCK!

You don't happen to know how I could go about acquiring the correct email for Universal, do you?

The Raven will be available on DVD from CRITERION in early 2007.

reply

Criterion?! I doubt it.

On the other hand, it's been released on dvd as one of five films comprising the 'Bela Lugosi Collection' (Murders in the Rue Morgue / The Black Cat / The Raven / The Invisible Ray / Black Friday)

When The Raven & The Black Cat were reissued in the UK a few years back there was some promotional hype 'The Lugosi/Karloff Collection' around the reissue and I thought we were going to get something decent. Instead what we got were DVD's that were full priced (about £15) with no extras included which was really disappointing. The old VHS version of The Raven had a 'Making of' feature included on the video cassette, so why was this not inclued?
