'without a clew.' (sic)

Notice the newspaper headline after the prison escape, reads something about the escapees gone without a 'clew' (clue).

good catch! that's a common, earlier spelling seen in many movies of the era. it's kind of like always seeing "to-day" instead of "today"... or the phrase "don't let's get angry" instead of "let's not get angry."

these films preserve history itself!

I saw it too, and that's the second time in the last few days I've seen the word 'clew' in an old movie. I was surprised to see it again so soon.

What I'd like to know is how the movie ends! It went longer than it was supposed to. I'm assuming Crane just proclaimed his love for Sonny's sister and they live happily ever after...

yes, but i think it was the sister who did the claiming? (sorry, i'm on sick leave and have seen about 8 TCM films since!)

i'm on an ipad, how do you hide spoilers like that?
