Tarzan's yell

As far as I know, Brix is the only Tarzan who didn't use a recording or variation of Johnny Weissmuller's yodel. What he yells is an approximation of "mangani," which was Burrough's name for the intelligent apes who adopted the infant Lord Greystoke. A little clunky, and with the limitations of second-tier serials, "The New Adventures of Tarzan" is still enjoyable, and should be seen especially by those who enjoy Tarzanic beefcake!

"should be seen especially by those who enjoy Tarzanic beefcake!" . . . as should the Buster Crabbe production. I think Crabbe and Brix/Bennet outshine Weissmuller. And yes, Brix's Tarzan yell must be heard to be believed and does sound more authentic (yeah, like I could really tell). On the recent TCM showing, Ben Mankiewicz mentioned that Edgar Rice Burroughs was closely involved with devising the story for the serial and also coaching Brix on how to play the character. The flick is fun.
