Good Pedigree

An unusual offering from MGM, this film actually has quite a pedigree - aside from Karl Freund as director, Dmitri Tiompkin contributed to the music, and Gregg Toland (who would later photograph CITIZEN KANE) the cinematography.

I enjoyed the cinematography in this film. Not surprised to learn that it was the same cinematographer on Citizen Kane.

The director, Karl Freund, normally worked as a cinematographer but I noticed he directed two other horrors in the early 1930s. 'The Mummy' and 'Dracula' although his directing work on 'Dracula' was uncredited.
