One issue I have with this film...

After Dr. Gogol gives Orlac the murderer's hands, Orlac's hand start having a mind of their own and begins to throw knives. However, even by the end of the film, this issue is never really wrapped up. After Orlac kills Dr. Gogol with the knife, the film abruptly ends and we get no resolution as to what happens with Orlac's murderous hands after. Does he chop them off? Join the circus? I guess I just wanted one more scene to wrap everything up more clearly, that's all. Great underrated film though. Peter Lorre was fantastically creepy in this film.

War does not determine who is right. It determines who is left.

Yeah, what you said. Also, Gogol died before a confession could be obtained from him that he set Orlac up to get blamed for his stepfather's murder, so Orlac is still on the hook for that.

Gogol confessed to Orlof's wife that he was the killer when he thought he was talking to the wax figure of her.

Also, the Rollo paraphernalia would still be in the same room as the finale, metal hands and neck-brace, to corroborate the story of his confession and implicating her husband. The police witnessed his attempted murder of her, so that would be enough.

Agree both. Kind of sloppy ending with plot points unresolved. I still enjoyed it overall.

***SPOILERS***

I was OK without a wrap-up scene. The way I saw it was that Orlac had been given the ability to throw knives but not the will to be a murderer. He had to kill Gogol to save his wife. So Orlac would not have gone on to be a serial killer.
