Lives of a Bengal Lancer

According to an interview in Films in Review, some years back, Director Henry Hathaway stated Henry Wilcoxon was cast as the star of the film and worked for I believe it was three weeks. Then he was replaced by Gary Cooper. Hathaway stated Wilcoxon was "dull". However, Cooper was on the ascent at Paramount in those days and there's also the rumour that C. B. DeMille pulled Wilcoxon off the Hathaway film for one of his own. I'd love to know if the Wilcoxon footage is resting in some vault somewhere. It would be interesting to see.
