Colonel Stone compared to Colonel Hathi from Disney's Jungle Book

So anyway, I'm watching the film and I notice an obvious stammer and stutter from the character Colonel Tom Stone, played brilliantly by Sir Guy Standing. I couldn't help noticing a resemblance to Colonel Hathi, the leader of the elephants in Disney's "Jungle Book". While both colonels enjoy engaging in military manuevers and reside among the outposts of northern India, the voice mannerisms of Pat O' Malley as Hathi, with the same stammers and verbal ticks as Stone are almost to the level of an impression, or at least an homage. I searched online to see if such an analogy had been previously posted, and I rechecked my copy of the Jungle Book DVD's added features to see if Colonel Stone was O' Malley's source. Didn't find anything. Other similarities between the films:

At the beginning of the "Bengal Lancer", one character admits an expectation of the post as being similar to a Kipling story.

The other film characters often make references to new recruits in the regiment as cubs, and Baloo uses the same term for Mowgli. Of course, Baloo is a bear.
