'My Three Sons' connection!

How strange that Fred MacMurray and William Demarest ended up working together decades later in "MTS"! Demarest was brought in as Uncle Charley when William Frawley became severely ill.

Not strange. People often cast people who have connections to people. That's how it's done. You think about your friends when a part comes up.

But, it was interesting that, so many decades later, they end up together again. Unless they somehow kept contact...

For example, I'm aware that a lot of the casting on Lucille Ball's shows were people she had worked with in the past or knew about, even actors who were friends. But, it was surprising to see Demarest in a very small role with such a young MacMurray.

So, I guess I'm just a big dope.

I thought that was very interesting myself when I watched it tonight on TCM as you must have done as well.

And you're not a dope, Skidoo obviously likes to condescend.

Thank you for the feedback and the support. I realize that I stated the obvious, but I thought it was interesting because I was a child of the Fifties who spent years watching "My Three Sons" in the Sixties. The theme song was on every jukebox, and people often imitated the tapping sneakers of the intro.

I admit that seeing Demarest so young surprised me; I almost didn't recognize him. I've never seen him that youthful, at least that I can recall. Not that MacMurray looks like the man he would be later... He still had sort of a kiddishness about him and hadn't filled out. I do wonder if they remembered this movie.

After all, I was at a "Star Trek" convention at which we had to remind Leonard Nimoy that he co-stars with William Shatner in "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." episode "The Project Strigas Affair". (The episode had aired on a St. Louis station not long before the convention.) He asked us, "We weren't in any scenes together, were we?" We assured him that he is in more than one scene. Basically, we were led to believe that he and Shatner did not recall each other in that episode, which is only a couple of years before "Star Trek"!

(Wow! Can I babble too much or what?!)

I just have to add that Ralph Bellamy is so handsome in this! His character definitely deserved someone better than the ditzy gold-digger.

This was actually the first of six films MacMurray and Demarest both appeared in before My Three Sons.

MystMoonstruck,

Seeing Demarest so young surprised me also. But, not as much as seeing Fred MacMurray and Ralph Bellamy so young.
