1935: The First Full Year Under The Draconian Production Code (Post VII)

The "draconian" code did not result in any diminishment of quality in movies. The great majority of films regarded today as classics were made after it went into effect. The obsession with "pre-code" movies is out of proportion with the actual quality of many of them, and is focused on the false idea that they were all about sex. The code forced film makers to become more creative and subtle, which increased the quality of movies over the next few decades.
