Janet Gaynor character ANNOYING!

Did anyone else find Janet Gaynor's character annoying? I mean the way she considered the Henry Fonda character to be a coward since he seemed unwilling to fight Charles Bickford. She is susposed to be sooooo sweet and charming---yet she eggs her man to fight. What a twit!!!

The very same year (1935),another movie about love on an inland watercraft was popular: Mississippi. Bing Crosby was a Yankee affianced to Southern Belle Gail Patrick until he declined to fight a duel, at which point she threw him over for a violent man more to her liking. Bing went on to kill a man, but the course of true love ne'er does run smooth. While it came too late to get Gail back, the killing completely alienated Gail's cute little sister who, until then, had had a yen for Bing. Fortunately, Bing had some nice Rodgers & Hart tunes to croon to her and she relented.

Janet Gaynor character ANNOYING!

An understatement if I ever heard one. She's got to be one of the most annoying female characters in cinema history.

I'm not a fan of romance stories, but I think it goes without saying that the leads should be likeable. She was so far from likeable that the entire movie didn't work.

Margaret Hamilton was by far the most likeable female character in this movie....
