It seems to me that the driver she passed up was obviously going to be trouble. The car she accepted the ride from appeared to have a woman driving.
shareI just watched it again-the first driver was the grocery clerk-and looked benign next to Barton MacLaines mug and a guy in drag-crazy premises .....Muni was a most underrated actor ever-His last line in"Chain Gang" will haunt me forever....."I STEAL"
