one of the better B-westerns...

This is one of the better B-westerns by John Wayne.

But this got me wondering as to whom were these type of quickie movies produced for?? (who was the intended demographic?)

Were they made for the kiddies going to matinees in the Thirties? For adult movie goers or what??

I'd say it was most likely the second film of a double feature. I find it hard to like such films as to me they are undeveloped. Due to their short run the plot is rushed and you never get much character development. For example at the end of The Desert Trail John and Anne get married yet I don't feel there was enough build up in chemistry between to two. It felt like a cliche move.

I have to agree that this is one of the better "b" westerns out there, as to the question of who was the movie targeted for, you're guess is as good as mine.

are you going to bark all day little doggie,, or are you going to bite

I believe these B westerns were targeted to adults during The Depression who wanted to get their minds off of their worries and watch short action films with great stuntwork and minimal plot where the guy was always guaranteed to get the girl. I'm pretty sure they say as much in the Western Heroes of Gowers Street documentary on John Wayne.
