COMING OUT ON DVD?

I'm wondering when coming out "broadway Melody of 1936" on DVD. The movies has wonderfoul and famous songs and dance scenes. My favorite: "Broadway Rhythm", "You Are My Lucky Star", "I've Got a Feelin' You're Foolin'". I wish to have the movie with any special features.

Hello Anthony-162.

I have some information about this movie on DVD if you're interested. I too have wanted to get the whole film ever since I saw the various extracts from it on the 2-disc Special Edition DVD of 'Singin' In The Rain'.

If you go to eBay and key in 'Broadway Melody' you'll be presented with a whole list(ranging from 1929 to 1940). Among the list you should find this film. Unfortunately it's from Brazil and the words on the box will be in that language although the eBay detail says that the audio on the disc is in English. It has a region 0 encoding(meaning it'll play on any machine) and the price(at least here in the UK) was £11.99 plus p&p of £5.00.

I hope that this will be of some use to you. I doubt that there are any special features on the disc; most likely it'll be a bare-bones affair.

Let me know how you get on.

John.

Great news- It's due for release in Volume 3 of "Classic Musicals from the Dream Factory" which includes the following films:

Deep in My Heart (1954)
Kismet (1955)
Hit the Deck (1955)
Born to Dance (1936)
Lady Be Good (1941)
Nancy Goes to Rio (1950)
Two Weeks with Love (1950)
Broadway Melody of 1936 (1935)
Broadway Melody of 1938 (1937)

Though all are shared between six disks but all of the films will be available seperately (though some will be sold seperately as double-features e.g. both of the new-to-DVD Broadway Melody films:

What a great opportunity to scoop up these great musicals, especially the "Broadway Melody" films!! Finally, Eleanor Powell's films will get more viewing!

However, it is a pity that they didn't include "Thousands Cheer" instead of, say, "Hit the Deck"...but wait- apparently there's an upcoming DVD release of that too, check this out:

Well, that's the good news! :)
