not quite as good as the original but...

the close up shots of the bride make it almost as good. they are just so stunning.

yes, there's Elsa lanchester and Ernest Thesiger, and the wonderful music by Franz Waxman. (I loathe Minnie / Una O'Connor, BTW!)
But I, too, prefer the simpler, straight and powerful first movie.

Now why don't you like Una O Connor? She was great in this and also in The Invisible Man. She has the best voice when she is disturbed. I could listen to her scream all day

Elsa Lanchester is great in everything.

Of course it is a matter of taste, but I definitely enjoy the sequel better. Pretorius and the Blind Man make it a very special movie.

Short Cut, Draw Blood

It's better than the original. Faster pace, better acting, better characters. I've watched them back to back a few times, and noticed the up in quality. It's like finishing Star Wars then watching Empire Strikes Back, and you can see a shift in quality, even though the original is still great.

There's so many scenes like vignettes that play out. Like a collection of short stories exploring humanity. Loosely tied together by the thread of Frankenstein's monster. It's a wicked interesting movie.
