In which year does the film play?

Is there information in which years the film is supposed to play?

The house of the lawyer in Scotland, the village, the horses, the candles, petroleum lamps everywhere, no electricity and cars at all... it looks like the 1890's or early 1900's.

Similar with the soldier's uniforms, the tropical helmets, rifles, the fortress in India, the British upper class parties, the Indian "rebels" and Khan Jutra. And the fashion of the women.

But the waste basket Ollie and Stan are filling in India (and the brooms in the background) looked more like the 1930's. The same thing with the civilian clothings of Stan and Ollie, the jackets and ties of the Scottish lawyer and Alan... quite modern, the decade in which the movie was made.
