Ha ha - Love her Brooklyn Accent!

Big Stanwyck fan here but I had to laugh when I heard her "Ruby Stevens" Brooklyn accent even though she was playing a backwoods gal from Ohio.

Still, she was so cute in this film! I liked in her in the scene of the first Buffalo Bill show when she sprinted across the rodeo field to grab her rifle and then bowed. She was adorable in that scene! :-)

I agree! I remember seeing this film years ago and thinking 'wow, I've never before seen Barbara Stanwyck looking SO cute'. I knew her as an amazing actress in "Sorry, Wrong Number", but from that moment on, she really got my interest.

She was supposed to be California-born-and-raised in both "Double
Indemnity" and her TV series "The Big Valley" also. Still heard the
Brooklyn accent shine through. As brilliant as she was, this was always
one the minor quibbles with Stanwyck.

She trades her Brooklyn for an Irish accent in Union Pacific and pulls it of gloriously, but yeah that damned accent is a minor quibble from an otherwise impeccable actress, I choose to go with it, it's one of Stanwyck's charms.
