Lighting the candles
I was taken by the fuse that the servant used to light up all the candles on the chandelier. Presumably it's an authentic 19C device? Does it have a name ? How did it work ?
share....(four years later)I too was struck by the lighting of the chandelier in that scene and I am speculating that methyllated spirits was used in the holders which would quickly ignite when a flame was held to it. That has been around for a couple of hundred years.
