What On Earth Did That Kid Have On His Face?

Anybody got a clue?

I guess it could have been anything for 1934, but he did appear without it a couple of times there, or at least once, unless he just forgot to put it on, for whatever reason.

It was the big curly-haired kid, who, if I'm not mistaken, became Woim later on.

Butch was seen here also as a very small kid.

If it wasn't Woim (may have been too big. Butch would have to do some major league growing, wouldn't he?), it looked like him.

The only thing I would venture would be a jock strap, or a cup of some kind. Which would make sense. .. It's sporting equipment. ...
It's shape goes down and flares out then taper back down, so if one wore this, the "junk" would go in the flared part.... And the tapered part would cover the "gooch".
Please excuse the layman's terminology, I'm still waiting on my medical doctrine from Acme Medical School & Toy Factory.

That was called a "nose guard", and some football players wore it before facemasks were attached to the helmets themselves. I guess way back in the day broken noses in football were fairly common.

That actor, Leonard Kibrick, was Woim's older brother.
