Carol and John

They played off each other so well.

This movie has held up well. All of the elements are still relevant. Hard to believe it was made in '34.

John was brilliant in this. When he disguises himself to get on the train unrecognized. Then later says, "I never thought I should sink so low as to become an actor." So funny.

ITA. It is one of my all time favourites. A great supporting cast as well. Sometimes I'll put the DVD when I'm doing other things around the house, thinking I'll just listen. Of course I end up watching it...again!
I have to see OJ point to his "broken" arm when passing Lily's boyfriend on the train! I laugh every time!

Yes, sir, I'm going to do nothing like she's never been done before!

ha ha I liked that part a lot too.

I love when Jaffe is firing someone too. He gives the same speech every time but never any less dramatic.

Yes: This most certainly is a great comedic treasure!

I love when Barrymore's slowly trying to remove the synthetic nose that had just been part of his disguise! LMAO!

As you stated, this movie holds up magnificently well to modern viewing. Watching it, I at no point ever feel like I'm watching an "old" movie. You just get caught up in the timeless hilarity of it all. I consider this one of the very most truly side-splittingly funny movies ever made. Of course, that's particularly thanks to Barrymore's hysterical performance. WAAAAY over-the-top - but in ALL the right ways!
