I think Jane considers Tarzan her husband because they have lived together and slept together for a long while now. Basically they are married virtually, synonymously and spiritually which is in my opinion a true marriage in the law of love and the jungle.

If you blinked you missed it. When they went to pay their respects at Jane's father's burial site, she took the chain off his timepiece put it around Tarzan's wrist and said 'always'. He repeated, 'always'. The next morning they repeat their vows, 'always' and there you have it, a jungle wedding: short, sweet, and to the point.

They had what we would call a "common-law" marriage.
