Yea, I was surprised by that too. We've seen John Wayne and Gabby Hayes side by side, time and again, but who'd have ever thought that we'd see John Wayne versus Gabby Hayes?

Furthermore, who would have ever thought he'd be such a resourceful villain? When he loses the element of surprise, he takes a human shield to compensate. When his horse is shot out from under him, he hops onto the wagon and continues his escape without breaking stride. When the driver is shot, he immediately takes the reigns. When the wagon goes careening off a ledge and into a lake, he swims to shore, steals a canoe, and takes off paddling down the river. He may be an old timer, but he is not an easy one to catch.

Watch Randy Rides Alone! That's the first time I saw "Gabby Hayes" as the bad guy & clean shaven.

I'm not sure,, but it's' definitely going against type, him playing the bad guy for once,, which was pretty cool to see if you ask me.
