Yak Canutt gave us John Wayne

Yakima Canutt, a resident of Yakima, Washington was a friend of Marion Michael Morrison, a stunt man he worked with in several pictures. Yak told the big redhead he should go for more acting than stunt work, because he had the build and the looks of star material. I believe the Starpacker was the first film with Morrison's new monicker, John Wayne. Wayne had a ranch with a partner in Stanfield, AZ, and iI have visited John Wayne's house on the 26 Ranch. When Wayne was 'home,' he spent a lot of time in the bar in Stanfield, and no one had to pay for any drinks, and Wayne was a real two-fisted drinker. He was the same person in real life as his characters were on-screen.
