Missing Reel?

Anyone else suspect there is a reel missing just before the end of the film? I suspect we see her go to the party for which her boyfriend is finding girls and there discovers the new client is none other than her father.

There were plenty of hints for this, the father's often sudden business dinners and trips out of town, his brushing his coat shoulders and checking for lipstick before greeting his wife, etc.

Then there's the doctor's statement to him that the fever alone wasn't enough to cause her to be near death, but that she must have suffered a major shock as well.
