early 30s plots are often unimaginative but the women's clothes...

The early 30s were all about the sleeves, and this movie has some beauties. I was particularly impressed by the dress with a cut between upper and lower sleeve that made an opera glove effect.

Okay, maybe this isn't the most imaginative plot, but there were some terrific mystery stories published in the early 1930s. I recommend reading novels by John Dickson Carr. That man sure came up with some bizarre impossible crimes!

I love women's styles from the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and early 60s.  Same with women's hairdos. By the late 60s, all this started to go downhill. Don't get me started on how awful the 1980s styles were!

I feel repulsed by the fur boas that they wore back then. With the animal's head on one end of the boa.
