Although I'm not as big a Stooges fan as many others, I think this is as surreal and bizarre as comedy can be, and ranks ahead, if only slightly, of anything similar the Marx Brothers ever did. The "going into the closet and coming out on every conceivable vehicle" gag was truly inspired, and the "breaking of the window" routine, which was old even then, scores heavily on their execution. If Columbia had left them in the "bizarro" mode, instead of trying to make them Everyman, we'd have gotten much more sophisticated comedy, which this movie, along with "Disorder in the Court" proved they were certainly capable of.
