Phyllis Diller

Is this the actual Ms. Diller we all know and love? It doesn't really LOOK like her, but then again, this is a 1934 movie. My copy of the VideoHound guide doesn't list her as being in it, but another video featuring her scene in Maniac is listed on an anthology tape. Just curious...

No, this is a much older Phyllis Diller. Same name, different actress.

I checked this out carefully. Phyllis Diller the comedienne was born in 1917 which would make her just a teenager when MANIAC was made. Also, Phyllis did not make her first TV appearance until the late 1950's when she was a guest on the show "You Bet Your Life" hosted by Groucho Marx. Her first film was the 1961 SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS where she played Texas Guinan.
That other Phyllis Diller? She only made one other film, a 1920 tearjerker called OVER THE HILL TO THE POORHOUSE. I haven't seen that one . . . in fact I wonder if it even still exists.

Which is the Phyllis Diller that was in The Fat Spy?

That was the later comedienne Phyllis Diller. (The Fat Spy; what a great awful movie.)
