Oh but there is, not much mind you, but there is. There are a couple scenes, but maybe you saw a cut version or something.

Fantisa was released in 1940!

I'm pretty sure mine has nudity. I remember watching it for the first time with that maniac carrying the helpless girl and stripping her at the same time. I knew I loved the film from then on! It's such a classic scene. I really like this film a lot and whenever I watch it, it seems I get this strong fear of insanity. It creeps me out in a way.

I wonder if the downloadable version on the Internet Archive is censored - the scene with "Super-adrenalin Man" carrying the unconscious girl looks as if it's suffered some sort of print damage ... although that scene is so murky you can't see much anyway.

Mine has nudity.

Up the airy mountain, down the rushing glen, we dare not go a hunting, for fear of little men.

reply

Mine DEFINITELY has nudity. Hahaha...this movie rocks.

"He was but the moon of my night. You are the sun of my day, O beloved!"

You must have some cut version. The copy I have does. That is one of the things that makes this old movie stick out. For its day, it was quite shocking. This movie ranks up there with "Refer Madness" for me. Alot of bad acting, a cheesy attempt to offer a message while at the same time exploiting the message...alot of good fun!

I may not have a big tricked out name tag, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

The dvd I have does contain brief nudity. It's in the 50 pack of Horror Classics by Mill Creek Entertainment.

The woman brought to back to life is carried off into the woods by the most outrageously hilarious insane actor in cinema (until Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet), but not before being stipped naked. There is also a brief shot of one of the doctor's victims half concealed behind a door. She leans out a couple of time to expose a breast.

For a while I thought those two women having the "cat fight" in the basement were going to end up nude, but they were interrupted before they got too fleshy for the camera.

My copy has nudity. The woman that was taken away by the crazy guy changed. There was a blonde at first, but in the nude scenes it was a different woman with dark hair.

reply

I confirm the nudity as well. I have the same Mill Creek package that IridescentPhantom mentions.

They got away with it because they didn't go through the censors and get 'real' distributorship. They would claim the film was 'educational,' do a huge city-by-city marketing campaign, show it for a few days until the city officials got pissed, and then run out town.

God bless 'em for it!

reply

Yeah, the woman behind the screen and peaking out - to me - was especially racy for the time. There really was no reason for her to be naked except to titillate the audience.
